Audionics Unveils Limited Edition,
Vacuum-Tube Multichannel Processor
FAP V1 First of its Kind, Featuring All-Tube Design
With Full Surround Features and Impeccable Sonics
Tempe, Arizona, September 3, 2003
Fosgate Audionics recently announced it will ship the limited
edition FAP V1 vacuum-tube surround processor later this month.
The FAP V1 is the first all vacuum-tube
multichannel processor, operating exclusively in the analog
domain. According to the company, it represents the ultimate
manifestation of Jim Fosgates talents as an audio pioneer,
at once offering the natural warmth of analog audio reproduction
in a highly versatile, surround sound processor. As it is
designed for a highly selective, limited audience, the Signature
Series FAP V1 will be released in a limited run of 50 units.
Jim Fosgate is well-known for his
commitment to developing audiophile products and technologies
that offer the most realistic and pleasing sonic experience,
said Brian Carlsness, Managing Director, Rockford Home Group,
parent company of Fosgate Audionics. With the FAP V1,
Jim managed to mix the most desirable modern benefits, including
the Dolby Pro Logic IITM [DPL II] circuit he designed for
Dolby Labs, with the natural, sonic appeal of vacuum-tube
technology.
Its truly a one-of-a-kind product,
and were proud to bring it to market in a special, limited
edition bearing Jims signature.
With all mechanical and electronic components
approved by Fosgate, the FAP V1 is designed to satisfy the
most demanding tube enthusiast, with a demonstrable sense
of openness and realism.
The DPL II circuit is based on the original
version designed by Fosgate for Dolby Laboratories,
with a selectable control that allows users to tailor sonic
output to personal preferences and room requirements. Virtually
any two-channel signal is converted to a 5.1 soundfield that
is natural and seamless.
High-Resolution Audio via 7.1 Loopthrough
As audiophiles interest in high-resolution multichannel
audio continues to grow, the FAP V1 presents an analog approach
to enjoying the new software formats. Eight analog inputs
(7.1) allow for easy hook-up of a DVD-A or SACD player, after
which the multichannel analog signal bypasses the FAP V1s
DPL II processor, and is sent directly to the volume control,
thereby maintaining the integrity of original, multichannel
mix. The 7.1 channel loopthrough permits end-users to retain
the use of their digital preamp/processors and utilize the
tube preamp stage as a main volume control point.
Signature Electronics Deserve Equally
Unique Cabinet
The chassis serves as both a functional unit and resplendent
complement to any décor. Copper-plated aluminum with
genuine bubinga and wenge wood successfully highlights the
appealing tube display while presenting controls in a user-friendly,
front panel layout. The FAP V1 measures 10.5 (H) x 21
(W) x 16 (D), and weighs 45 lbs.
Added Carlsness: Its for both
practical and aesthetic reasons that a concept as special
as the FAP V1 should be released as a limited edition model.
Just like any valuable piece of art, it is intended for a
discriminating audience that demands the pinnacle of a given
genre, which, in this case, is high-end audio equipment.
The FAP V1 will be available at select high-end
audio retailers in September at a retail price of $13,000.00.
Each of the 50 Limited Edition units will be hand numbered
and signed by Jim Fosgate.Editors Note: For Rockford
